Compared to LCD screens that are currently used by iPads, Mini-LED screens should allow for better contrasts, better responsiveness, as well as better energy efficiency. Apple's interest in this technology has been mentioned in the media for a while.

And according to MacRumours, who relays a note that would have been published by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has made significant progress. From now on, the Cupertino company would no longer be in the development phase of the technology, but rather in a phase of "economy of scale".

Moreover, the site indicates that the mass production of these screens could begin before the end of the year. And the first screens produced would be for the next generation of iPad Pro. But then Apple should switch to this type of screen for other iPad models, as well as its MacBooks.

According to rumors, at least six iPads and Macs equipped with Mini-LED screens could be launched before the end of 2021. And little by little, the cost of this type of screen could also drop, thanks to competition between different suppliers. Thus, analyst Kuo would predict that these costs would fall by 50% in 2021, then by 35% in 2022.

These rumors also give us a better idea of ​​the evolution that the next MacBooks may have. As a reminder, this year, the Cupertino company has started its transition from Intel processors to Apple Silicon processors.
